When God Prunes You

Published on 15 January 2026 at 22:09

I am in a season where I feel like God has been pruning me, refining me, stretching me, testing my obedience, and teaching me many things. It has not been an easy journey so far, but I can honestly say I feel much better now than when it started.

The call to get closer to God, the desire and the thirst for Him began in 2022 and increased even more in 2025, which is the year God isolated me. I did not immediately understand why this was happening, but I now see that God was creating space so He could work deeply in me.

There were moments when I felt uncomfortable, confused, and stretched beyond what felt familiar. Yet even in the discomfort, I sensed that God was doing something intentional.

Scripture reminds us of this truth
John 15:2 says, Every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.

Pruning does not feel good, but it is proof that we are producing fruit and that God wants more for us.

I have come to realize that in my life, every time I became sick and tired of a situation and consistently took it to God, something shifted. I prayed daily, I asked, I cried, and sometimes I complained. Not at the situation, but to my Father. And that is normal for children to do.

Only recently did I understand this pattern. When I reach a state of dissatisfaction, it is often announcing a new season. It usually means the situation I am tired of is about to change.

If we want to see change in certain areas of our lives, we cannot remain content there forever. God has called us to move from glory to glory, not to stay comfortable in one glory.

Second Corinthians 3:18 tells us that we are being transformed from glory to glory.

The only constant thing in our lives is change. If we do not like change, then nothing will change. We do not simply wish for change. We respond to it, we pray through it, and we move with God through it.

Sometimes what we call delays are not delays at all. Some delays come from the enemy, but others come directly from God as a form of protection or preparation. What feels slow to us is never slow to Him. We are bound by time, but God lives in eternity.

If you are in a season where you feel dissatisfied, stretched, or uncomfortable, I want to encourage you. This may not be punishment. This may be preparation.

Wait on God. He is not finished yet.

Psalm 27:14 says, Wait on the Lord. Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart.
