Waiting on God is something we are never really prepared for. It’s an uncertain season where we don’t know how long we will be waiting or when the answer will come. At the beginning, waiting often feels hopeful. There’s excitement, expectation, and faith. But as time passes, that hope can begin to feel stretched.
You might start to feel restless. Doubt can creep in. You may question whether you truly heard God or whether you misunderstood Him. Your emotions won’t stay the same throughout this process, and that’s important to acknowledge. You won’t feel hopeful every single day.
Some days frustration shows up. Other days comparison does. Your faith might feel weaker than it once did. You might even stop praying intentionally for a while, not because you’ve given up, but because you’re tired of waiting. And yet, in all of this, God sees you. He hears you. He understands you. He is a compassionate Father who sympathises with your weariness.
Just because your emotions change, or your faith feels inconsistent, it does not mean God loves you any less. Struggling does not disqualify you or disappoint God. Waiting does not mean you have ruined what He promised or somehow forfeited the journey He has you on.
God has given us His Spirit to help us and carry us through this life. There is no area of your life that He is unwilling to help with. He wants you to trust Him with every detail, even the ones you don’t understand, so He can fully support you through it.
You may not enjoy the waiting, but it is often here that God builds us. He prepares us for the very thing we are waiting for. If the journey feels long, perhaps this is God’s way of getting you ready before He releases what you’ve been asking Him for.
We often ask why the waiting takes so long. Sometimes it’s because we’re not fully prepared yet. Maybe we’re at eighty percent, or even fifty. That doesn’t mean we should give up. It means God is still working, still shaping, still loving us through the process.
So if you find yourself waiting today, stay gentle with yourself. God hasn’t forgotten you. He is still with you, even here.
Flourishing Faith.
